Agnes é uma transexual que trabalha como dançarina noturna e enfrenta dificuldades com o atual namorado. Obcecada pela mãe que nunca chegou a conhecer, Agnes não parece ter muita coisa em comum com seus dois irmãos: Hans-Jorg, um bibliotecário desajeitado e tímido, e Werner, que é um político bem-sucedido, mas vive um casamento infernal. Quando os percalços cotidianos ameaçam confrontá-los com seus limites, os três irmãos começam a perceber que suas vidas não são tão diferentes quanto parecem.

Stefan Arndt's drama focuses on three very different brothers, all searching for happiness. Hans-Jörg is a sex addicted librarian, who is interested in young students. Werner is a successful politician with a dysfunctional family. Agnes, a transsexual, works as a table dancer in a nightclub. The three brothers just have one thing in common: their longing for a happy life...

Drei Brüder, drei grundverschiedene Lebenswege: Bibliothekar Hans-Jörg (Moritz Bleibtreu) lebt, wenn er nicht gerade Schmöker sortiert, ganz für seine sexuelle Obsession, den Voyeurismus. Werner (Herbert Knaup) avancierte zum weithin geachteten Politiker und ist standesgemäß, aber nicht gerade glücklich verheiratet und Vater eines rebellischen Sohns. Agnes (Martin Weiß) schließlich wurde vom Herrn zur Dame und schlägt sich als Revuefaktotum durchs Nachtleben. Was sie verbindet, ist der gemeinsame Hass auf ihren Übervater - bis einer von ihnen zum Befreiungsschlag ausholt.
